Urban Brew and BBQ
1939 Central Ave
Saint Petersburg, FL 33713
Urban Brew and BBQ is a small beer bar and restaurant near Tropicana Field in the Grand Central District in St. Petersburg. Urban’s vision is simple: to share their “passion of barbecue and beer.”
Urban Brew has 18 craft beers on tap which they constantly change. When I was there, they told me they typically don’t pour St. Pete beers since you can go straight to the source. However, 11 of the 18 beers were from west central Florida and the rest of their tap list was well chosen from other Florida and US craft breweries.
Urban Brew and BBQ prides themselves as a scratch kitchen. Urban has appetizers from $5 to $8 and BBQ dishes starting at $8 for a ¼ lb. pulled pork plate up to $27 for a full slab of baby back ribs. Urban BBQ also has $12 to $13 sandwiches which come with a side.
I enjoyed one of their specials called “The Monster” which was a cornbread waffle topped with bacon wrapped meatloaf and cheddar mashed potatoes served with collard greens. My food was $13 plus a beer and tax put my lunch tab at $21 not including tip.
Urban Brew and BBQ also has a few tables on Central Avenue as well as a decent size patio out back. Since Urban is kinda small and beers cost a $1 or so more than most beer bars in St. Pete, I recommend Urban Brew & BBQ as place to eat and grab a beer but not necessarily a place to hang out.
