Bars & Restaurants in Tampa, Florida
Downtown Tampa is home to Amalie Arena and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Most of the bars and restaurants downtown and near Amalie Arena consist of sports bars, hotel bars, dive bars, and a few craft beer bars and restaurants. There are also few corporate type bar restaurants in Channelside Bay Plaza which is less than 2000 feet from Amalie Arena.
Centro Ybor is a just north of downtown Tampa and easily accessible by the TECO 800 streetcar which has a stop near Amalie Arena as well as another stop at historical Ybor City. Centro Ybor features a sampling of breweries, wine bars, beer bars, cigar shops and restaurants. If you don’t mind springing for a taxi, Bern’s is a couple miles east of downtown and will not disappoint if you’re looking for the perfect bottle of wine and steak dinner.
Downtown Tampa Bars
To be honest, the best bars and restaurants in downtown Tampa aren’t near Amalie Arena nor are there any great bars or restaurants in nearby Channelside Bay Plaza. However, there are a few cool bars within a 15 minute walk north of Amalie Arena including some craft beer bars, sports bars, and a couple of decent bars to grab some pub grub.
Tampa Bay Restaurants & Bars
This list is a bit of a grab bag including what I believe to be the best bars and restaurants in Tampa Bay. Many of these bars and restaurants don’t fit very well into my other Tampa Bay restaurant and bar categories and include such places as a fine dining restaurant, a dive bar, a beer bar, a speakeasy and my favorite brewery in Tampa Bay.
How many breweries are in Tampa Bay? As I revise the brewery lists for downtown St. Pete and Tampa, I’m guessing there about 35 breweries in Tampa Bay and add another 20 breweries if you slightly expand the area. The following list of Tampa breweries includes those within the city limits of Tampa and focus on those breweries in Ybor City and north Tampa.
Ybor City Bars & Restaurants
Besides multiple breweries and countless cigar shops, Ybor City in Tampa is home to a wide variety of bars and restaurants. It seems historical Centro Ybor has one of everything. You can go from a dive bar to an upscale restaurant to everything in between covering a multitude of cultures. I’ve visited Ybor three times and afterward, I always find out about a place I missed.
